"It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. I say, why not do both?"

Hello from Alaska cartoonist Peter Dunlap-Shohl. Here you'll find animations, political cartoons, songs, short comic pieces, and other products of my fevered imagination just as fast as I can create them and put them up.

As cartoonist for the Anchorage Daily News, I amused, annoyed and had fun at the expense of my fellow Alaskans for over a quarter of a century. I plan to continue that here. There is a big ol' archive of my daily News cartoons here and animations about Alaska politicians, here.

Thanks for checking in, reactions welcome.

Here are four cartoonists who consistently do high quality work. As I type this, more names crowd forward in my brain, but let's start here.

Richard Thompson is not only the man behind the popular Cul de Sac strip, he is also a fine illustrator whose work appears in The New Yorker, Mother Jones and many other top-flight illustration venues. His carefree line is envied far and wide by cartoonists who forgive him for being so gifted because his drawings are impossible not to love.
There is no mistaking the work of Clay Bennett. His cartoons are marked with an elegant blend of clarity, simplicity and sophistication that he has sustained for decades. Clay is one of the most passionate cartoonists I've met. And how about that Signe Wilkinson? Nobody combines combines ingenuity with bite like Signe, but I wish more people would try. Then there's Flashmaster Mark Fiore, whose record as an innovator and commentator is singular and inspiring.

And for you caricature fans out there, check out the dynamite Sal Navarro.
